I saw a Foley-Belsaw grinder and sharpening system at a garage sale yesterday. It didn't sell. It has jigs for sharpening table saw blades. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will it be more trouble than it worth learning how to use it? The guy's father paid thousads of dollars for it. I think I can get it all for $50. Chris

I got an old 308 grinder that's sharpened miles of chains. It's a well built grinder. Foley has always been good to me when ordering wheels. That is the downfall to this grinder, Foley is the only place I can find these wheels for the 308. Foley has been providing tool sharpening machines for a looong time.

Mexico NY. Local Time: 2:43 AM. I picked up a Foley 308 chain grinder today. Bought it from the original owner who ran a small saw shop and saw milling operation. He had all of their other sharpening equipment too to sharpen band saws blades and circular saw blades with and with out carbide teeth. He also had an old Foley filing machine too.

I have just got a foley belsaw 308 chain grinderand i am looking for a operator manual for it . I dont want to start a file vs. grinder match just want to learn how to use a new old tool. ps. i have a foley 550 grinder so this should be a step ahead. any one have a manual or know where to get one.

Foley made two machines model 374 and 380. The 374 had a smaller 1/2 Hp motor and the 380 (which I have) has a "full size" 1/2 Hp totally enclosed motor. Both are listed as a "Router Bit and Tool Sharpener". The user manual shows setups to sharpen router bits, circular saws, milling bits, reamers and other tooling. Last edited: Jan 12, 2016.

The Foley 308 allows for the swing arm to be angled, almost never need to change this. Not sure if it allows the vise to be moved, even if it does almost never need to do this. Some will argue that it is easier to do depth gauges with the Foley, it depends on the condition of the grinder and skill of the operator.
